When women come together to worship, fellowship and study the Word of God powerful things happen! Lives are transformed, hearts are healed and God is glorified. Our goal is to provide opportunities for women to come to know God better, deepen their relationship with Him and share the faith journey with other women. Here are some of the ways that happens at Community Covenant:
Bible Studies:
The Women's Ministry provides Bible studies in the Fall and in the Spring. The Fall study is generally 6 weeks so that it can wrap up in time for the busy holiday season. The Spring study is usually longer (9-11 weeks) and finishes up in mid May. The format for the studies are daily personal assignments, coming together for small group discussion (8-12 women per group) followed by a DVD teaching on the week's lesson. Studies from Beth Moore, Liz Curtis Higgs, Pricilla Schirer and Kay Arthur have been done. We are always interested in considering authors other women have found interesting and helpful in their faith journey. During a study our meeting days are Wednesday mornings from 9-11:30 or Monday evenings from 7-9:30.
Retreats/Conferences:
Retreats and conferences are an opportunity to steal away and immerse ourselves in God. These opportunities range from the small and intimate to the huge and public. In the past, we have traveled to the Women of Faith conference in Anaheim with 17,000 other ladies as well as organized a cozy weekend at The Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo for the women of the church. In 2010 we plan to attend the Women's Conference of the Pacific Southwest Conference of the Covenant Church the first weekend in October.
Periodic Gatherings:
In 2010 we hope to incorporate more opportunities for fellowship outside of an organized Bible Study. Relevant speakers, women sharing their testimonies or just coming together for purposeful “gab sessions” will give women more time to connect with one another and be encouraged as they walk through their faith journey together.
