Our History

Community Covenant began in 1912 as a small group of Goleta families wanting to impact their community with the love of Jesus Christ. The church, originally called Goleta Federated Church, was chartered in 1913.

Our longest serving member, Jeannie Pitts, was 17 years old (too young to be a member) at the time the church was chartered! The building was located on Chapel Street in Goleta, near the corner of Hollister and Patterson.

The name was changed to Goleta Community Church in 1967. At the same time, the Preschool ministry opened at the Chapel Street site. The church family had envisioned establishing a much needed christian School in Goleta. God provided the present property on Cathedral Oaks Road in June of 1970.

The school building was completed in 1972. The church moved onto the school site and began meeting in the current building in July of 1981. The decision was made to join the Evangelical Covenant Denomination in 1988.
